The Official Brent Weeks Network

For fans of The Night Angel Trilogy and fantasy author Brent Weeks

I have read all three books atleast 5 times each and has anybody else noticed that Blue is exaclt like Azoth? And Kylar is the exact same as Durzo when Blue asks him to apprentice her he says that it is to horrible of a road for her and that she shouldn't waste her time isn't that what Durzo basically told Kylar at the beginning? If you have anything t say post back to this cause I was just sitting here thinking about it

So you get lots of shit from everyone on here for saying you think you'd be a great Durzo Blint, and then you have the balls to rag on someone else? Wow...

No **** sherlock! I got that the first time. Blue is an image Brent used to show the innocence Azoth had once. It is also to show how Kylar has changed and shows how the fate of the night angels is not an easy one to carry. It is also in a away his redemption as he passes Blue onto Drake who can give blue a real life and as a way of giving back what Kylar took through dying.

Maybe, if Brent is going to write a sequel trilogy, Blue could be further explored in a sequel. And maybe twist into the main storyline.. maybe a relationship with Kylar's kid.. the possiblities!!!

it is clearly a technique used by the author,
having Azoth/ kylar be confronted by blue it puts him in the same situation as durzo was, it shows his progression - as durzo was he is now the best wetboy and revered as durzo blint was. blue also represents azoth when he was a guild rat.

pretty much what allen said only read his post after i typed this

Yeah, that was pretty interesting. I personally think that Brent didn't have Kylar apprentice Blue because it would have to extend the book and stuff, and it would be similar to the first book when Azoth/Kylar was being trained by Durzo. Another reason might be that he might not have seen any "Talent" in her, so her being apprenticed would be useless, because she wouldn't be capable of doing everything like Kylar ( and i know Kylar wasn't able to use his Talent at first, but he at least had it)

kylar actually thinks about that, that hes in durzo's place and that blue is in his. it would be awesome if blue appeared in the next books :P

Azoth also sounds kinda like Azure which is another shade of blue so in a sense they almost have the same name!
