So my wife just finished the trilogy last night. Its been a very nice experience while shes been reading through the book. Weve actually has long discussions about the books and charectars, and what we like and dont like. Im glad that she enjoyed it as much as I did and we are both looking forward to any work that Brent will be doing in the future.

Also...we are pregnant, we have decided if its a boy to name it Logan.

It's good to know there are actually married couples out there who enjoy the same things.

Oh, and congratulations on the baby!

Yep, I just finished the books last night. I was reluctant at first to read them, despite the fact that David praised them for days upon days... I just typically don't care much for anything remotely sci-fi and/or lord-of-the-rings-like stories... and yet, they were completely captivating. The way that Brent developed his characters truly made them identifiable, likable, hatable, etc and so forth.

One thing David and I talked about (at 3am this morning, after I just HAD to finish the last 5 chapters) was the wedding earrings VS the ka'kari. David's view: if the ka'kari is a Devourer of magics, then why did the earrings hold such a strong compulsion over Kyler? Wouldn't the ka'kari just eat at the magic the bond held?

Here's my view: the center of the ka'kari, everything it's based on, is love. The bond was forged in part of Vi's strong love for Kyler, therefore the Devourer couldn't "eat" at the magic the bond held because they were based on the same thing.

What do you think??

My thoughts were that the Power of Love was stronger than that of the Ka'Kari's devouring ability, so it couldn't devour them.

What also popped into my head was that the Ka'kari has its own conscience, and is quite sarcastic sometimes. I think it was toying with Kylar by not devouring them, because it would have known Kylar wanted them off.

I got the same feeling as Amanda. The Ka'kari and the bonding rings worked in the same category, sort of, with love as a major motivation.

I love the fact that the ka'kari is one sarcastic little orb of power. It had me laughing on more than once.

Why Logan? Why not Azoth, or Kylar, or even Jarl. huh huh. What's wrong w/ the other names? lol.

Oh! You should name him Ursuul!

David and I both REALLY like the name Logan... it appeals to my preference to traditional-sounding names (we have two daughters, one named Elizabeth and the other Katherine), and probably because of Logan Gyre, David now associates the name with someone good, strong, a leader, etc.

Azoth and Jarl are just a little to out there for us to want to name our potential son that... Kylar isn't so bad, but I can't imagine screaming "Kylar! Get that potty off your head! Let go of that puppy's tail NOW!" and whatnot for the rest of my life, lol.

And no way am I naming him Ursuul. That's just asking for crap! lol
