*BOOK 2 SPOILER SORTA*

Can you explain. I may just be to early into the book and need to keep reading on to find the answer. But Isn't Kylar bonded with the ka'kari until he dies for good or tha ka'kari chooses another master? So say in book 2 when the ferali eats his arm and kylar removed it from every cell so he wouldnt loose it....would he have actually lost it at all? And if he moves it to his sword and his sword is take, does he loose it? or does the ka'kari always stay with him? Basically my question is can it be stolen from him?

To answer your first question about the ka'kari and the ferali, after Kylar is killed by the Godking, the Wolf reveals that since the ka'kari is the devourer of magic, and the ferali is heavily magical, kylar could have just "walked right through the ferali" and the ka'kari would have killed it. Yeah, Kylar was pretty pissed to learn that...

As for your other question, the ka'kari does not necessarily always stay with Kylar. Two occasions that I can think of off the top of my head are when Kylar puts the ka'kari on "Retribution" and hides it just before he enters the Chantry, and when Durzo takes the ka'kari back so he can go into the woods. So no, the ka'kari does not need to be with Kylar at all times, but it still stays bonded to him even if someone else has possession of it. The only exception to this is the potential of certain magics that force the ka'kari to change hosts (the Godking wanted to do this so he could have the ka'kari, but never got a chance to).

I don't think that you can force the ka'kari to change hosts with magic because it would just devourer any magic that got near it. I think the ka'kari is always bonded to him, but he can take it out of his body, like you mentioned when he puts in on Retribution or when he gives it to Durzo. But I believe that if anyone takes Retribution with the ka'kari still on it, he can still call it back, like when Durzo put the ka'kari on Curoch, and Kylar said that all he had to do was call the ka'kari back. So I think he remains bonded to the ka'kari forever, until it chooses to not serve him anymore, as it did with Durzo.
