how did rat exactly survive? 4 the first parts of the story u think hes dead then at the end u find out hes roth.

They told...Neph got him out, as he was watching. He then killed the real Roth and cut the ear off of it. He burned Rat's other ear, for punishment.

Yeah, Neph Dada fishes him out and put's roth in his place, so Rat takes Roth's identity.

Neph pulls him out, and the body was replaced by the real Roth. Rat then had his other ear burned off in punishment.

Neph was watching and got him out before he drowned. He found a body and put it in Rat's place after cutting its ear off like Azoth had done to Rat (remember he showed the ear to Durzo as proof he killed him), and then burned off Rat's other ear as punishment for being stupid.
