Well if your in the mood for a good long read WoT is good although it does drag on alot as Steve said. Mainly its about this shepard becoming the most powerful man in the world. He becomes the Dragon. He has to fight the Dark One. Basically books 1 through to about 5 are him fully getting into his role. 6-11 are the preparations and the battles. He starts conquering the many different kingdoms. I myself am not really surprised that book 12 will be 3 books as there is alot to wrap up.

Essentially if you read the first 3 books of Wheel of Time you should read the rest.

Sadly books 1,2,3 are boring as it is building story for later, and book 9 is also not that great.

However, the series overall is worth it and epic in nature.

Be forewarned, magic in WoT is "similar" to that of Night Angel but actually is much more thought through and interesting.

Also check out Mistborn Trilogy, Elantris and Warbreaker from Brendan Sanderson (who is continuing the Wheel of Time series to conclusion) as they are also great books.

If you're looking for a similar read to Brent Weeks, I'd recommend Brandon Sanderson's other books, the Mistborn series. Or Elantris, or Warbreaker. They're great books and don't require as much investment as the Wheel of Time. The series will end up being a 16 book series with an overwhelming amount of content. The world is a lot to take in and can be intimidating through the first book. For this reason, if you're still getting back into regular reading, I'd recommend something lighter. Maybe even Joe Abercrombie. I'm currently caught up with the Wheel of Time but I expect a lot of things in this upcoming book to go over my head as there is just so much to remember. In all though, Robert Jordan was an amazing writer and his books are spectacular. Whether they drag on or not is beyond the point, the story is great. You just have to be willing to invest yourself in the story and characteres as opposed to looking for action and adventure.

I agree with ya a 100%. The Wheel of time series is not something one can just absorb in a few seatings of reading. The world of WOT is absolutely ENOURMOUS but very detailed. Detail from different peoples culture, appearance, food, past times, etc.

I See You. Malus DarkBlade.

The first of the three will be out next tuesday the 27. Orignally the book was supposed to be one massive book, instead of three separate books (WOW). As you know the WOT books are quite lengthy. But when Mr. Jordan passed (R.I.P) I guess the original plans were changed.

I've been waiting for this for awhile, not least because in many ways I actualy think Brian Sanderson is a better writer than Jordan. For one thing, Jordan seems to have a massive phobia of killing off major characters. That's a stylistic choice of course, but one I dislike, and one Sanderson dosn't seem to have. Also, the other problem is how people who havn't read books in the series recently are going to return to it. You realize, Knife of Dreams was released almost exactly 4 Years ago? (October 11th). And the first book in the series was released in January of 1990, which, FYI, was Before I Was Born. After a release cycle that long, many people will be... Fuzzy, on what has happened in the past. Not to mention the 5 MILLION loose threads that remain to be tied up. (The big metal tower, whatever happened to Moraine, will Morgase return to power? and so forth.) On that note... I will indeed be getting the book. If only because Brian Sanderson is an excellent writer.

I read the whole series about 4 years and again recently right before the release of the new book . Finished it about a week ago. I've met others who have re-read the series countless times. CRAZY. As far as I know Mr. Sanderson is just going off the notes that Mr. Jordan left. He left a whole bunce of notes, including the ending. I don't think Brian is going to take to much liberties with the story.

The big metal tower is where the snake and foxes are. The place Mat recieved his powers and special spear. That is where Moraine is. The next three books will deal with how they get her back.
