For fans of The Night Angel Trilogy and fantasy author Brent Weeks

Hey, I'm probably asking for a whuppin' doing this, but I know that I let some typos sneak into The Way of Shadows... someone told me they saw four. Ack! And now I've just found out that when the book goes back to press, it's really easy for Orbit to fix those typos. (Doh, and they've already gone back to press TWICE in the US... so that's two rounds of fixes I've missed.)

So, would you help me and post any typos you noticed?

Write "[Sentence in which typo occurred.]" [US or UK edition] page [#]

Example: "Why the crapp are you asking readers for typos.?" US edition. page 4,201

Once I think I got them all, I'll shut down this discussion thread. (If I can figure out how.)

Thanks!

Hi, I am not sure about typos themselves, but I did see a few gramatical errors.

Ex: (not from the book) ".. Kylar said. then jumps to the..." I saw a couple of words that were missing a capital letter, but not more than that. I can re-read the book to see if there are a couple of specifics lines.

I'm not trying to be rude but I have an honest question. I thought that was what editors were for? Wouldn't it be the editors mistake or do I have the wrong idea of what editors do?

Jake,

Not rude at all. Basically, the down side of having three books publish in consectutive months was that we had to edit three long books in the time you usually get to edit one. And I was making changes AFTER the point where they told me, "Please don't make changes after this point." So it's my fault. Generally, I write very clean copy, but it was a truly exhausting summer, and obviously, I introduced some errors when I was making late changes.

"You not good enough?" UK edition. page 643 (toward bottom of page)

Seems like it should read 'You're not good enough?' or 'You, not good enough?'. I dunno.... Maybe I'm just bad at reading :D

Hi Brent,U.S. edition, pg 163, paragraph starting: "Dorg moved down . . . Finally Kevin came back past him."I think "Kevin" is the typo, and maybe should be "Dorg" instead.Happily in the midst of re-reading the trilogy,Gail in Chicago

pg. 137 bottom of the page

"Please, Logan. You're most kind. You really like it?" Logan asked.

I assume the first Logan should be Kylar since that's who Logan was talking to.

I know I found some. I'll re-read. I usually dog-ear the pages I find errors on, but I didn't want to ruin the book. Now look, just my luck.

US ed pg 135 right at the top. "Azoth was nobody. You about to become Kylar Stern," she said.

I'm re-reading yet again. I'm sure this time I can spend more time looking for mistakes as I was just too engrossed in the story the first 3 times - lol

US- pg 160. I'm not sure it's a typo, but.... "But his talents if not his Talent had served him well in Cenaria." I would think there should be commas - "But his talents, if not his Talent, had served him well in Cenaria."

Again, I have a comma issue on 168 in the 2nd paragraph - I think it either needs commas or needs to be more sentences.
"The king's voice pitched higher and higher and he started crying as the guards blew whistles and rang bells and the throne room roared to life."
"The king's voice pitched higher and higher, and he started crying as the guards blew whistles and rang bells, and the throne room roared to life."

I also have to metion a pet peeve as I've really started to notice this as I get back into chapters 20 and 21 - you use the word BUT to begin a LOT of sentences. Sorry to mention it, but it happens so much that it's really standing out at the moment. I know this isn't likely to be anything that you can quickly fix for reprinting, but I thought I'd point it out for future writing. Cheers.

US pg 184 - "It was salt sea that if he drank would make him thirstier and thirstier...."

Should it be "It was a salt sea that if he drank would make him thirstier and thirstier...."?
