The Official Brent Weeks Network

For fans of The Night Angel Trilogy and fantasy author Brent Weeks

Hey, I'm probably asking for a whuppin' doing this, but I know that I let some typos sneak into The Way of Shadows... someone told me they saw four. Ack! And now I've just found out that when the book goes back to press, it's really easy for Orbit to fix those typos. (Doh, and they've already gone back to press TWICE in the US... so that's two rounds of fixes I've missed.)

So, would you help me and post any typos you noticed?

Write "[Sentence in which typo occurred.]" [US or UK edition] page [#]

Example: "Why the crapp are you asking readers for typos.?" US edition. page 4,201

Once I think I got them all, I'll shut down this discussion thread. (If I can figure out how.)

Thanks!

-Brent Weeks

Okay, just wanted to let you all know that Orbit just went back to press again (yay!) on January 9th, and _most_ of the typos should be fixed. (Double yay!) I'll be double checking all the above with my master list, but other folks should be seeing much cleaner copy.

Again, my apologies. I feel terrible about typos.

I don't care as long as I can make out what it is suppost to be without trying real hard it dosen't matter to me and it seems that most pepole didn't catch them one the frist (or third ) run through and intill you said something it was not a big thing for them

I think I've found one, and it may be more a holdover from an earlier draft than a typo so to speak. I could be wrong though.

On page 79 of the version sold in Australia (did we get the UK or the US version?), there is the sentence "When he looked up, Roth was standing, that familiar cruel grin on his lips, the rusty sword pointing at Azoth's throat."

This early on, Rat is still Rat, and he's referred to as Rat all throughout this section except for this sentence. The "real" Roth wasn't there to be holding the sword, since Rat was alone, waiting for Azoth.

Anyway, what I meant about it being a holdover from an earlier draft: Would I be right in saying that at some point in the writing cycle, "Rat" never existed, and he was always just Roth? I know the first time I read it, I just figured Roth was another of Garoth Ursuul's aethlings that Neph mentioned.

"But his father Regnus Drake had lived by his oaths, through a miserable marriage and miserable service to a petty, wicked king." US edition of Beyond Shadows, page 4.

Eeep. I think Rimbold Drake got transposed with Regnus Gyre.

I found a few, but I bought my three in early January 2009, so if they went back to the press already the ones I noticed may have been fixed in the reprinting.

Ha! and here i thought it was my dyslexia kicking my butt.
Poor Brent, getting beat down after such a great high lol it's no major problem, like someone said earlier as long as we know what it's meant to say. i completely understand why errors like that slipped through.

i can only imagine that it would take probably as long to edit my writing then it is to write it.... stoopid dyslexia :P
i will be re-reading the books soon so if i do find anything that has not been mentioned, i will post
