The Official Brent Weeks Network

For fans of The Night Angel Trilogy and fantasy author Brent Weeks

This is my first discussion and i also just finished the first book and after logging on to this i've noticed ppl have been calling both durzo and kylar assassins if they were assassins i think durzo would have killed himself early on, the correct term for what they are is wetboy NOT assassin The Night Angel Trilogy Durzo: wetboy, Kylar: wetboy, Assassins Creed: Altair: assassin and if any of you have any other assassins you'd like to add to my list or wetboys to clarify the difference feel free i can't wait to get the other two books this series has to be one of the best i have ever read

Ok I believe eveyone is using the term in referance to real life.... In our reality we have no wetboys and the closest we have are assassins or hit men.

yes we may have no real life wetboys but to call them an assassin is still insulting

absolutely.

i mean i think we might hurt their feelings by calling them assasains... oh wait they dont exist

you misunderstand the pun

wet is characterized by the presence of water or any other liquid

seeing as theyre assassins and are always covered in blood...yea :] there u have it :]

Reply to This

from what i remember they actually tried to keep blood off of themselves or at least durzo and kylar did

Reply to This

yea but its more metaphorically speaking

they kill

"they have blood on their hands"

yea metaphor...kinda funny if u dont thnk about it too literally

Well, first of all, they can't really be insulted as they don't actually exist :P but secondly, I believe the Wetboy title to the Wetboys is worn more as a rank. Though they describe themselves as a completely different thing, they know that technically their profession is that of an assassin. Therefore, refering to them as assassins is accurate.
Just my opinion.

technically they don't exsist my point was durzo and kylars respective title is wetboy kylar was at one point an assassin when he did his first solo kill durzo appointed him an assassin so i guess technically at one point in there life yes they were an assassin but later on learned to become a wetboy by using the talent again tho comparing a wetboy to an assassin is like comparing a tiger to a kitten

There is no differeance if you call them an assassin or a wetboy.. same thing they both kill for money and self pleasure

I just bought the Night Angel Trilogy a few days ago. I'm about 4/5 through the first book and the story is still fresh in my mind (I just set the book down to start writing this). Early on, Durzo says "No Talent, No Wetboy" to Azoth/Kylar. Without The Talent, he's only an Assassin. So that is one significant difference between the two. The Talent can be equated with Magic from what I've read thus far. It allows you to do all sorts of things beyond what a normal person could do. The Wetboys use it to bend light around them to hide in the shadows, to enhance their strength and durability, to climb walls like a spider.....it kinda reminds me of The Force from the Star Wars movies.

Where the hell did the term "wetboy" come from anyways? When I first read it, I arched by eyebrow at it. Assassin sounds way cooler than wetboy, so I'm like, why "wet"-boy? What does the wet part have to do with anything?
